Light HIT

Light HIT is a cooperation project of foundation Tschumipavilion, Hanze Institute of Technology (HIT) Assen and BySpy Ruinen. Light HIT is an interactive light installation of 120 chinese lanterns, directly reacting to the direct environment of the Tschumipavilion. To realise this project, BySpy (a partner of HIT) provided a camera and detection software. The camera that was placed in the pavilion ?perceives? the environment. This image is split up into 8 vertical planes. To every plane, a group of 15 chinese lanterns is connected. If a small object (for example, a passer-by) passes, the planes will light up one by one. But if more objects pass, it results in more irregular patterns. In case of a bus, more planes will light up, that will dip as soon as the movement stops.
